Overview

DiscoverΒ The Grand Tofu (Kingsway Glen Waverley), a bustling Malaysian restaurant located atΒ 82/84 Kingsway, Glen Waverley VIC 3150, Australia, with enquiries available onΒ +61 3 9560 1700. Known for authentic Malaysian and Chinese-influenced comfort food, the restaurant has built its reputation around generous portions, fast service, and a broad menu of noodles, rice dishes, soups, seafood, and vegetarian choices. For diners seeking distinctiveΒ local dining experiencesΒ in Melbourne’s eastern suburbs, its energetic hawker-style character is a major part of the appeal.

The signature order atΒ The Grand Tofu (Kingsway Glen Waverley)Β is undoubtedlyΒ Yong Tofu, currently listed around A$23 on delivery menus. Homemade stuffed tofu and vegetables can be paired with noodles served in soup or dry Oriental style, creating a satisfying combination of soft tofu, springy noodles, and deeply savoury broth. Another standout isΒ Seafood Curry Laksa, around A$22.80 on the current delivery menu. Its creamy, spicy curry broth coats seafood and noodles with a rich coconut-driven warmth that makes it especially comforting in cooler weather. Delivery-platform prices can differ from dine-in pricing.

TheΒ Malaysian Char Kuey TeowΒ is another worthwhile choice, combining stir-fried flat rice noodles with the smoky, savoury character expected from this Malaysian favourite. Diners wanting something milder can chooseΒ Hainanese Chicken Rice, while adventurous eaters have options ranging from Penang Assam Laksa and Bak Kut Teh to Salty Fish and Chicken Fried Rice. Vegetarian spring rolls, vegetable noodles, vegetarian dumpling soups, and meat-free noodle dishes also make the menu more accommodating than many traditional Malaysian restaurants.

Value is one of the strongest qualities ofΒ The Grand Tofu (Kingsway Glen Waverley). Many current main dishes on delivery menus fall aroundΒ A$19–A$23, with portions repeatedly described by diners as generous. Customer feedback consistently praises flavour and reliability; one reviewer called it aΒ β€œsolid reliable Malaysian restaurant,” while others highlight excellent laksa, fried rice, fresh food, and speedy preparation. A July 2026 delivery customer also described the meal as among the best they had eaten.

The dining room itself is casual, lively, and often crowded rather than polished or quiet. Long-time customers compare the atmosphere to a Malaysian or Singaporean hawker centre: busy, noisy, fast-moving, and full of energy. That makesΒ The Grand Tofu (Kingsway Glen Waverley) in Glen WaverleyΒ especially suitable for quick lunches, casual dinners, families, and groups, though diners wanting a peaceful date-night setting may prefer somewhere less hectic. Takeaway and delivery provide useful alternatives during busy periods.

Among theΒ best restaurants in Glen WaverleyΒ for approachable Malaysian comfort food,Β The Grand Tofu (Kingsway Glen Waverley)Β succeeds by keeping the focus on flavour, choice, portion size, and efficiency. Visit for the signature Yong Tofu, stay for a steaming laksa or smoky noodle dish, and experience one of Kingsway’s enduring casual dining favourites.

Had a great meal here overall. The curry laksa was really yummy β€” $17.50 for a generous bowl where you can choose the soup base, 6 yong tofu ingredients, plus noodles and veggies. Very satisfying and good value. The wat tan hor was average; we’ve had better elsewhere. Crispy chicken on rice was tasty, but it would be even better if it came with a small bowl of soup or a little sauce on the side (sweet & sour or plum sauce would be nice). Service was friendly and efficient, and the food came out very quickly even though it was busy. Would come back, especially for the laksa and try other dishes. ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Located on Kingsway, just close to Glen Waverley Library; The Grand Tofu is to me arguably, the ultimate spot for Malaysian food in Melbourne. Known this restaurant since I was a kid, been a regular for over 10+ years along with my family and is absolutely one of my favourite restaurants in Glen Waverley. Their Mee Goreng, Char Koay Teow, Wat Tan Hor, Nasi Goreng and signature Yong Tau Foo are extremely delicious with generous portions and the staff are very friendly. On my recent occasion which was last night, I came with my brother and were fortunate to not queue up for a table as this restaurant can easily have a queue depending on the time of the day and the day itself. We ordered the Char Koay Teow and Nasi Goreng and everything was no different, both dishes were amazing and had excellent wok hei flavour. Easily a must try in Glen Waverley and will always be back!!!

Overall, the food is pretty good with generous portions. Be prepared to queue as this Malaysian restaurant is always busy! We ordered the char kuey teow, sweet sour pork rice, and curry yong tau fu with noodles. The pork was soft, tender, and flavourful, and the yong tau fu was just as tasty.
